Fee: $200

The WHAT:

In an upbeat, energetic and higher-paced environment:

5 min           DYNAMIC Puck Warm-up.

10 min          SKATING SKILLS consisting of some      edgework, some forward stride, some                            backward stride.
30-35 min     PUCK SKILLS consisting of passing and stickhandling. There will be some shooting during the 4 skates but not much.  Considerable amount of time will  be spent on receiving a pass (seems to be a lost art and one of my biggest pet peeves).  To elicit different results, we will be using heavy pucks, and regular (black)  pucks.  Repetition is the key here! Passing is the language of hockey and you can clearly see how someone thinks the game and what ‘language’ they are speaking by when and who they pass the puck to.

15-25 min     CONCEPTUAL GAME SKILLS (without  goalies) to understand the principles to play the game effectively (with passing). Such as:  How to create offensive situations when your team has the puck and how to play  defensively when your team doesn’t have the puck.
WE WILL KEEP IT SIMPLE.  It’s NOT about all the secrets – it’s about being BRILLIANT AT THE BASICS/FUNDAMENTALS.  This is critical to on ice      success – individually and as a team!
Why NO goalies... I have found that players at this age are so plugged into trying to score that this interferes with their ability to work on ‘seeing’ the ice and what the best possible play is.

The WHO:

Registration is first come, first served (NOT just skating school participants).  The session will consist of a limited number of players.  It is designed for the player who truly wants to get better.  These skill skates will be highly energetic and will require focus and most of all, a passion to improve. If you or I have to encourage your player to focus, pay attention and work hard – then this is NOT for them.

The FEE:

$200 – Registration and Payment are online at:  hockeyspecificskatingschool.com.  There will be about a $7 processing fee.
