5 HOURS (4 ICE SESSIONS @ 1.25 HRS) of mostly PUCK SKILLS
May 13, 17, 20, 24
COMMITTED PLAYERS with
BIRTH YEARS: 07, 06, 05, 04, 03, 02, 01, 00
In an upbeat, energetic and high paced environment:
5 min Dynamic Puck Warm Up
10 min SKATING SKILLS consisting of some edgework, some
forward stride, some backward stride.
30-35 min PUCK SKILLS consisting primarily of passing and
some stickhandling. Considerable amount of time
will be spent on receiving a pass (seems to be a lost art).
We will be using heavy pucks as well as regular (black)
pucks. Repetition is the KEY here! Passing is the
language of hockey and you can clearly see how
a player thinks the game and what 'language' they
are speaking by how and when they pass the puck.
15-20 min CONCEPTUAL GAME SKILLS (without goalies) to
understand the principles to play the game
effectively (with passing). How to create offensive
situations when yourteam has the puck and how to
play defensively when your team doesn't have the
puck. It's NOT all about the secrets- it's about being
BRILLIANT AT THE BASICS or FUNDAMENTALS.
This is critical to on ice success - individually and as a team!
Why NO goalies? . . . I have found that players at
this age are so plugged into trying to score that
this interferes with their ability to work on 'seeing
the ice' and what the best possible available play is.
All skates are at Centre Ice. There will be 2 different sessions-
Group ONE and Group TWO. Groups will be assigned by Friday May 11th. BE PREPARED TO BE IN EITHER GROUP - especially those of you that are 13 or 14 years old.
Group ONE Group TWO
Sunday May 13 6:00-7:05pm 7:15-8:20pm
Thursday May 17 7:00-8:05 pm 8:15-9:20pm
Sunday May 20 6:00-7:05pm 7:15-8:20pm
Thursday May 24 7:00-8:05 pm 8:15-9:20pm
Registration is first come, first served (NOT just Hockey Specific Skating School participants). Each session will consist of a very limited number of players. It is designed for the player who truly wants to get better. These skill skates will be highly energetic and will require focus and most of all, a passion to improve. If you, or I, have to encourage your player to focus, pay attention and work hard . . . then this is NOT for them.
$165 - Payment via online registration. There will be about a $6 processing fee.
